This past weekend, Rotary Club Penang Strait welcomed 60 kids from across the community for our annual Kids De Camp — two days of games, mentorship and hands-on service projects designed to plant the seed of giving back early.
Why Kids De Camp exists
Every year, our members ask the same question: how do we make "service above self" click for a nine-year-old? The answer, it turns out, isn't a lecture — it's letting them build something with their own hands and see who it helps.
"The kids didn't just learn about helping others — they experienced what it feels like to be part of something bigger than themselves." — Camp Coordinator
What happened on camp
- Day 1: Icebreakers, team challenges, and an introduction to what Rotary does in Penang.

- Day 2: Leadership games, a talent showcase, and a closing ceremony with parents.
